This 1992-1996 C4 Delphi Electric Fuel Pump provides superior fuel delivery to your engine with the optimal amount of fuel volume and pump output pressure. An electric pump has a similar diaphragm and valve arrangement as a mechanical pump, but a solenoid provides the pull on the diaphragm. There are many factors that can lead to a fuel pump failing, some common causes being contamination in your fuel system, fuel starvation (running out of fuel), always driving with a low fuel level and overheating the pump, low voltage, or a plugged fuel filter causing the pump to overwork.
Overheating is a leading cause of fuel pump failure - it is ideal to keep your tank at least a quarter-tank full or more as much as possible. The fuel inside your tank where the pump is located actually acts as a coolant to help keep the pump operating at an ideal temperature. When the fuel level becomes lower in the tank and the pump is exposed, it is no longer being cooled as efficiently as possible. This creates further problems by throwing off the fuel/air mixture to your Corvette's engine as the pump can begin sucking air in with the fuel if the fuel level gets too low.
