Our Journey
Rebuilding and moving forward
On June 17, 2026, Mid America Motorworks experienced the devastating impact of a catastrophic EF3 tornado that struck our corporate campus, causing significant damage to our facilities and disrupting normal business operations. In the days since, we have moved to a new temporary home still here in Effingham, Illinois and have been making strides to rebuilding our operations.
The support we’ve received from our customers, suppliers, and fellow enthusiasts has been truly overwhelming. Your calls, emails, messages, and words of encouragement have meant more to us than we can express.
For more than 50 years, Mid America Motorworks has been built on resilience, dedication, and the relationships we’ve shared with the automotive community. Those same values continue to guide us today. We remain committed to rebuilding, restoring our operations, and serving you for many years to come.

Our Story · 1974
A $500 loan and a trunk full of parts
Our journey began in 1974, when Corvette enthusiast Mike Yager saw an opportunity to serve fellow owners with the parts and accessories they needed. Starting with a $500 loan and a trunk full of Corvette patches, emblems and manuals, Mike drove to shows across the country, meeting enthusiasts face to face and building a reputation for quality and service one conversation at a time.
Those early car show days grew Mid America Motorworks into a trusted destination for Corvette owners around the world. In 1997, our enthusiast family expanded with the acquisition of The Real Source, bringing that same passion, product knowledge and personal service to the air-cooled Volkswagen community. Today, from our home in Effingham, Illinois, we're proud to serve both Corvette and VW enthusiasts with the parts, expertise and support that have defined Mid America Motorworks for more than 50 years.
