Normal disc brake rotors are the standard, flat faced disc on on your Corvette. They have better initial braking power as they have more surface area touching the pads when the brakes are applied.
When hot, the brakes will build up gas between the pad and rotor, which will cause brake fade and pad glazing. The rotors can also become warped from the heat if they have been paired with incorrect pads, of if they are poorly made.
