Corvette entered its second generation in 1963. Building on the relationship with Firestone that began in 1954, the Deluxe Champion tire was again part of the OE wheel lineup featured on the Corvette. 1963 and 1964 Corvettes were equipped with 6.70x15 Deluxe Champion tires. In 1965 the Big Block 396 ci. engine was poised to unleash its wrath on tires and pavement alike and the 327 ci. Small Block's horsepower was growing at a staggering pace. Mindful of this, General Motors had the foresight to request a lower profile wider tread tire be ready for the 1965 model year. Firestone offered up the 7.75x15 Firestone Deluxe Champion Super Sport Tire.
