Brake Caliper Piston, 1965-1982, Front, Lip Seal w/ Insulator. These Pistons Have The 1st Design Heat Insulator, But Fit 2nd Design Calipers.
1965-1966 Factory original 1st design calipers contained pistons with black insulators on the pistons. In 1967, the insulators were eliminated. If you have the second design calipers on your 1965-1966, you can rebuild them with these pistons for a more original appearance. These also reduce brake fluid temperatures during extreme braking.
First design calipers have a piston guide milled into the center of the piston bore. Second design calipers do not have any guide in the center of the piston bores.
