1984-1996 Coupe Rear Halo Panel Side Window Weatherstrip Seal Latex - OEM Number(s) (10283997)

1984-1996 Coupe Rear Halo Panel and Side Window Weatherstrip Seal Latex. The "Halo" weatherstrip starts at upper rear corner of the door and extends over the top to other side. The rear of the targa top roof panel rests on this and the rear edge of the side window glass seals against it.

Made from LATEX. Latex gives the look, feel and “softness” of OE style weatherstrips. Softer than EPDM and has original style "skin" as found on OE factory weatherstrips. Allows for excellent fit, finish and functionality.

 Made in USA!

How to  Remove and Install 1984-1996 C4 Corvette Coupe Upper Rear Weatherstrip Seal

Removal Procedure:

1. Remove the roof panel and open both doors. Disconnect the positive battery cable to prevent a dead battery from the courtesy lights being on.

2. Starting at the left bottom side, using the slotted weatherstrip seal tool, remove the small plastic push-in fastener (Item # 8).

3. Using the small seal cutter/scraper tool, while lifting up on the seal, carefully cut the adhesive away from the weather seal metal retainer (Items # 1 & 5). Do this half way across the car.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the other side of the car.

5. Using the bent awl and cutter/scraper tools clean off all old sealer left in the metal retainers. Be sure the edge grooves of the metal retainer are clean.

Installation Procedue of New  Weatherstrip Seal:

1. Grip each end of the new weatherstrip seal and using a piece of white caulk mark the center point.

2. Measure to the center of the upper rear seal retainer and mark the center point with the white chalk.

3. Apply a bead of weatherstrip seal adhesive 3/8 inch wide in the center of the rear retainer and both side retainers.

4. Align the caulk mark on the weatherstrip seal to the caulk mark on the rear retainer. Start pushing the front edge of the weather seal into the retainer, working from the center outward to each side.

5. Push down the rear edge of the weather seal into the rear edge of the metal retainer. Use the small bent awl to seat any edges under the metal retainer's edge.    Hint: Coat the tool with some silicone dielectric grease so it will slide on the weather seal without damaging it. With the point of the awl pointing back toward you, push the awl away from you along the edge of the seal.

Notice: Do not puncture or damage the surface of the new seal. Any damage will cause the surface of the new seal to peel off later.

1. After the weatherstrip seal across the rear and both sides has been thoroughly seated into the retainer, lift up the bottom end of the seal on each side of the car and apply some adhesive to the underside area and then push the seal into place.

2. Reinstall the push-in fastener on each side of the car (Item # 8).

3. Before reinstalling the roof panel, using a soft cloth, rub some silicone dielectric grease on the new weatherstrip seals. This will prevent future cracking, and it will ensure a better seal against the glass.

4. It is VERY IMPORTANT to allow one hour for the adhesive to cure before reinstalling the roof panel and closing the doors.

5. Reconnect the positive battery cable.
