FAQ
What is the meaning of a Debossed grain pattern in my Corvette interior?
Both of these terms are letterpress
terms that describes the pushing
of leather to a level not equal to
the original surface. This process is
accomplished with dies and counter dies and the leather is squeezed
between the two of them.
Embossing represents pushing the
image up above the leather.
Debossing is pushing the image below
the level of the leather. Think of it this
way. You are walking along and fall in
a hole. That is debossing.
If your walking along and all the
sudden come to a hill that is embossing. Both are effects that Mid America
Motorworks uses for Corvette Apparel
and Corvette Interior products to accent the Corvette Logo or design.
Embossing is used much more than
debossing.
When used in conjunction with heat
and pressure it will iron the fi bers of
the leather to a smooth surface above
(embossing) the original surface level,
or below (debossing) the original
surface level.
