Rust Prevention Magic RPM Metal Protection
Rust Prevention Magic RPM Metal Protection, Part Number: 111202

What types of metal will RPM protect?

All types of metallic surfaces prone to oxidation can benefit from RPM protection. Cast Iron, stamped and cast metals, as well as aluminum are some of the common automotive applications. RPM works great to preserve natural metal drivetrain, suspension, and bare metal components to a like new condition. Chromed metal is not recommended.

How is RPM applied?

Detailed instructions with photos can be found on the Technical Info Tab.

How much RPM will I need for my project?

The 8oz. container should be enough to treat your entire vehicle/project. Warming the part allows the RPM to flow out when being applied avoiding unnecessary material waste.

Will RPM attract dirt?

Unlike oily products, RPM is dry to the touch. Once applied, the metal is protected from humidity and moisture.

Do I need to re-apply RPM?

Once RPM has been applied according the directions reapplication is unnecessary. Just like the painted surfaces of your project if treated areas are subject to abrasion, direct spray or impact the area may require touch up.

How To Apply Rust Prevention Magic Metal Polish

Rust Prevention Magic (RPM) is easy to apply using these simple steps. Use for your Corvette Restoration, tackling a winter Corvette Project or getting ready for show season, Rust Prevention Magic will maintain your bare metal parts like the day it left the Assembly Plant.

  1. Step 1 - Prep

The metal surface should be free of any rust or oxidation. RPM does not reverse rust, it prevents it.

    Supplies Needed:

    • Metal part
    • Rust Prevention Magic
    • Application Brush (Included with RPM)
    • Heat gun or hair dryer
  2. Step 2 - Heat the Part

Using a Hair Dryer or Heat Gun warm the area that RPM is being applied. The metal should be warm enough to melt the paste upon contact. Several passes with the heat source will normally be sufficient.
  3. Step 3 - Apply RPM

Using a soft bristle brush (a 2" chip brush works great) dab a small amount of RPM on the brush and apply it to the warmed surface. Make sure the area receives an even coating paying attention to any edges to ensure complete coverage without skips.
  4. Step 4 - Cool

RPM will appear wet & glossy when first applied allowing you to verify coverage. Once the treated area cools the gloss will disappear. Allow the part to cool back to room temperature.
  5. Step 5 - Buffing (Optional)

Part may be buffed with a soft cloth for additional luster.
