1946-1979 Paint Code Decal L-41 Black
Complete your Air-Cooled VW restoration with the correct decal for your original or new paint job. Paint Code decals are located in the trunk of your Volkswagen and in most cases have become missing over the years. Decal is L-41 (10) Black and was used on the 1946-1969 Beetle, 1974 and 1979 Super Beetle, 1961-1973 Type 3 and 1955-1974 Karmann Ghia. VW Code 10.
- 1946-1969 Beetle
- 1974 and 1979 Convertible Super Beetle
- 1971-1973 Type 3
- 1955-1974 Karmann Ghia
Tech Note: L-41 Black was the 1 Paint Color to be used as long as it was by Volkswagen. For over 20 years this color was just 1 selection that was offered on the Sedan or Convertible Beetle until 1969. L-41 Black continued as a standard option for the Type 3 and Ghia until their models ended in 1974. The Super Beetle saw the color return for this 1 year only in 1974 and then reappeared for the final time in 1979 for a special Triple Black edition Super Beetle Convertible that each dealership received only 1 to sell. Th Bus did have Black in their paint line but it was not the L-41. Codes 000 and 001 Black on the Bus were reserved for the Westfalia, Commercial and also Special Order's from 1963-1967. Public Service Buses also used 000 and 001 Black.
Helpful Hint: Over the years, your Volkswagen may have the rare opportunity to have kept its original paint job, but in most cases rust is dominating or a different color has covered the original. When restoring your Volkswagen, some details stand out above others and correct decals can help you bring the trophy back home from shows.
