Our Interior Dome Light is correct for Standard Beetle Sedans 1970-1977 and Super Beetle Sedans 1971-1975. It will work on 1952-1969 Standard Beetle Sedans, but is not 100% aesthetically correct. Will also fit 1962-1973 Type 3 models.
The dome light features a 3 position switch. On, Off and Dome Light. The color of the switch on this dome light may be black or white in color.
When installing, the red wire attaches to the terminal opposite of the switch, the brown & white wire attaches to the terminal at the switch. If you car is equipped with a brown ground wire, this is not used for this light assembly. Make sure to tape up this wire so it does not come in contact with the red wire. The Dome Light is self grounding, so make sure there is a clean bare metal surface for it to clip to.
Will work on 6 or 12 volt applications.
A 12 volt light bulb is included with this assembly. Purchase an extra one to keep on hand as a spare.
