Our 1973-1979 RH OEM Quality Air Cooled VW Beetle Floor Pans boast an 18 gauge thickness and come with the jack point, rear cross member section and seat track. All of these components are included separately in the package and not welded on for a couple reasons: shipping is much cheaper, the jack point can be installed or left off for a cleaner look and they aren’t even necessary on convertibles.
You can install a floor pan with the body on or with the body off. Here are a few things we highly recommend to make your floor pan replacement go smoothly.
Installation note: If you have never done this type of job before, you are almost guaranteed that you will need all of the items in the "Parts You Will Need" tab. So many times, the bolts holding the floor pan to the heater channel will break off when you go to remove them. Also, original floor pans are welded about every ½” to ¾” so there are a lot of spot welds to remove and you will need to be very careful when removing the spot welds on the left hand driver side as the main brake line is tucked up against the tunnel just above the factory spot welds. It is not uncommon to need to replace this brake line during floor pan installation. You will also want to make sure you inspect the quality of your accelerator/clutch/brake assembly. So many times when these are removed, the original magnesium material is rotted out just enough to barely hold the accelerator pedal in. Upon removal it will sometimes crumble and break.
