Replace your worn or stripped Pivot Mount Bolts with new bolts. These are for all Aircooled VW’s with IRS Transmission. Almost always needed when replacing IRS bushings.
Tech Note: When Removing you will notice small dents from a chisel that were made on the chassis at the VW Factory to keep this bolt from backing out. Using a chisel to reverse this will make removing these bolts much easier. Also note when removing how many times you turn the bolt in order to back it out completely. It is important that when replacing this bolt that you turn it back to the exact location as from the factory. You will pretty much know when you have reached the correct torque when the bolt starts getting tight and your factory dent is getting close. Just line up with the factory dent and use a chisel to make the dent line up with the groove in this bolt.
Tech Note: These can be removed with a 17mm Allen Head Drain Plug Tool, 313-580 or 382628.
